ThinkTankers Radar helps you assess the reliability of an information source.
Assess the source and the information it provides separately, as intelligence doctrine does: a doubtful source can deliver accurate information, and an excellent source can be wrong.
Free, no sign-up, no data retained. The calculation happens entirely in your browser. Use ThinkTankers Radar with legal information sources only. Note: the verdicts are not absolute, they are an indication.
Do not enter a person's real name: use a role, code or pseudonym (e.g. "Contact A, banking sector expert").
For each criterion, 1 is the most unfavourable situation described and 5 the most favourable. Tick "I don't know" when you lack the information: it is more accurate than an average score.
The percentage shows the criterion's weight in its verdict. A score of 1 on a warning criterion caps the verdict, whatever the other scores.
Method inspired by NATO intelligence grading (AJP-2.1), which assesses source reliability and information credibility separately, by NewsGuard's online media assessment criteria, and by the veto principle of multi-criteria decision analysis (Bernard Roy): a serious warning sign cannot be offset by good scores elsewhere.
